BJP’s Locket Chatterjee emphasises the lack of political discourse in PM Modi’s Vote of Thanks address.

Chatterjee, in a conversation with ANI political on Monday

Emphasised that the Prime Minister’s foremost concern is always the welfare of the nation and its citizens. Politics does not play a role in this matter. It is only natural for the Prime Minister to prioritise the well-being of the 1.4 billion individuals, as this is an inherent responsibility of the position.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh’s recent statement about the Prime Minister’s intentions during the Vote of Thanks at the Budget session of Parliament has drawn a response from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Locket Chatterjee. Chatterjee emphasised that Prime Minister Modi’s focus on the well-being of the 1.4 billion citizens is a natural inclination and not driven by political motives. Speaking to ANI on Monday, Chatterjee stated, “The Prime Minister’s thoughts are always centred around the nation and its people. There is no political agenda behind it. It is only natural for him to prioritise the welfare of the 1.4 billion people, as he holds the position of Prime Minister.”

Contradicting the claims that the Prime Minister’s speech will primarily address the upcoming elections, Chatterjee asserted that PM Modi has been diligently working for the past 10 years. “This is not related to the Lok Sabha elections. The Prime Minister’s efforts have been directed towards serving the people for the past decade. He prioritises enhancing accessibility to services and empowering women,” Chatterjee clarified.

The Congress faced severe criticism from the Hooghly MP, who asserted that they have already experienced a defeat. This defeat is not only reflected in the sentiments and opinions of the people but also in the outcome of the recent state Assembly elections, where they lost in three out of five states. Regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s protest demanding the release of funds from the central government for different welfare schemes, Chatterjee emphasised the lack of proof for Banerjee’s claim of Rs 4.5 lakh crore being owed by the centre.

Chatterjee stressed the absence of any substantiation for the 4.5 lakh crore in MGNREGA. Despite Mamata’s repeated notifications to the central government, she has failed to furnish any specific calculations. Furthermore, there are several loopholes that need to be addressed. It is imperative to acknowledge one’s own errors and provide the central government with a comprehensive breakdown of the calculations. The BJP MP asserted that the MGNREGA protest was orchestrated to sow confusion among the public ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Chatterjee asserted that Mamata’s motive behind these actions is to create confusion among the populace and deceive them for the purpose of garnering votes in the Lok Sabha elections, just as she did during the Assembly elections. Earlier, on Saturday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that her state government would ensure the payment of pending wages to 21 lakh MGNREGA workers by February 21. (ANI)

Parliament Budget Session is currently underway, with both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha engaging in a discussion on the motion of thanks to the President’s Address. Members of the ruling party are emphasizing the government’s achievements, while the opposition is accusing it of making exaggerated claims and presenting incomplete information. Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the debate in the Lok Sabha this evening.

Earlier today, the Bharatiya Janata Party issued a three-line whip to all its MPs in the Lok Sabha, instructing them to be present in the Lower House on the fourth day of the ongoing Budget Session. On January 31, President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, marking the commencement of the Budget Session.

During the Congress’ governance, two songs on inflation, namely ‘Mehngai Mar Gayi’ and ‘Mehngai Dayain Khaye Jaat Hai’, gained immense popularity in our country, as acknowledged by PM Narendra Modi.
